With the double dose of MLK day and the Presidential Inauguration, there may be no day more appropriate to post this writeup of my most recent sale of Bob Dylan product.

The Times They Are A-Changin' was an album I had in early childhood, a mono copy passed down with the entire early catalog about 50 years ago.  I've got into detail in other write-ups linked below so I won't rehash that history here.  I picked up this clean repress copy used in the pre-CD era and it stayed clean today.

At some point, I acquired a later day bias against Changin' Times.  I let people that should have known better give me the subliminal idea that somehow topical 1964 was  dated.  Of the first 7, this was my least listened to in the last few decades.   Upon listening to this today, I realized that all the songs have some modern relevance and most of them get into a Dylan setlist from time to time with the exception of the precursor to "Union Sundown," "North Country Blues."   That one stayed in the 60's.

People can read all sorts of things into the title track.  You're right from your side and I'm right from mine is the theme of the album and 60+ years later nothing has really changed that much even if people are crazy, and times are strange.  Perhaps it is the ghosts of the past, namely Hattie Carroll and Hollis Brown, that endure well beyond The Times and became subjects for the best songs on the record.

Somewhere in the distance there's seven new people born.
