This is a generally unassailable compilation whose shrink wrap I never took off, but through the magic of Spotify playlists can be put together to play digitally.
I've made many a comment about how half the Mojo compilations that seem so appealing never made it into the carousel CD 200 disc jukebox I had in 2007 that has since died. This comp you get originals the Stones covered and later groups covering the Stones. Some obvious hits like the tracks by The Temptations, Irma Thomas, Bo Diddley and of course Chuck Berry.
For me the coolest thing I discovered was Sandie Shaw's cover of "Sympathy For The Devil" which closes out her 1969 album Reviewing The Situations. She was a couple years removed from winning the Eurovision Song contest but she had been cranking out albums since 1965. This one was the 9th.
The reggae track "Cherry Oh Baby," a single from Eric Donaldson the Stones did on Black and Blue was another good one. The newfangled alt-rock covers are represented by Turin Breaks "Moonlight Mile" and Stereophonics "Angie" as well as Billy Bragg's version of "She Smiled Sweetly" from Between The Buttons.
Worth taking the shrink wrap off if you have kicking around.
