You'da think this was an original Banana edition for the money (those go anywhere from 250-1,000 depending on pressing and condition), this 1985 reissue has been going for lately. I had it at $129.99 back when it was still going for $30 a couple years ago due to the second side missing the track listing, just having a blank Verve label. Imagine how shocked I was that over a hundred bucks is now the going rate for this.
Musically, it is legendary for a reason. Anti-Dylan, Anti-Rock even. Pro-dope, pro-depravity. Art students slumming it uptown. White boy, what are you doing there in 1967? Explicitly "Heroin." Wife and life, Jim-Jim's. By the time the feedback squall kicks in during "European Son," the neighbors start banging on the floor.
At least mine did.
