While I liked "Blow Away" as a radio hit in it's day, I always thought George's self titled album in 1979 was a bit of a disappointment. There are some "neat" things on it-he finally got around to issuing a solo version of "Not Guilty" after it being a Beatle outtake from the White Album period. He also winks at his past with a sequel of sorts "Here Comes The Moon."
My next favorite track, "Soft Touch" got the fade out treatment as did "Soft-Hearted Hanna." "Faster" captures newly found love for Formula 1 Grand Prix racing. His hero Jackie Stewart is "faster than a bullet from a gun!" Apparently, George was repeatedly asked by his new found racing buddies to write a song about the sport. Challenge accepted.
Sometimes it is best to stay in ones lane.
