In the time of it's release, any unreleased Beatle material was considered manna from the Capitol/EMI Gods. There had never been any live US recordings issued from the glory years of 1964 and 1965. Bootlegs have of course covered these years and the one after far more exhausively. Somehow, these among all others were approved for release by John, Paul, George and Ringo in their living breathing years.
This particular 8-Track I played a track of but since it was part of a 3 tape order, I wanted to get it out the door before a train, so I have to guess how the fades are going to be. I heard the fades of Dizzy Miss Lizzy Part 1 which was banter after the song was done. I suspect part 2 just gives an intro for "Ticket To Ride." I didn't get to hear the excitement of the live "Roll Over Beethoven" or "Help!" fades, but I suspect it is more of the same.
The recordings are fine. Live Beatles, screams, banter, you get the idea. Have I ever had an urge to hear it ever since I got the album in the early 80's? No. I watched the documentary thingy that came out when the recordings were remastered. As good a place as any to hear "the Live Beatles" but I'm sure there will be an exhaustive box sometime down the road.
John, Paul, George....and Ringo!
