Sad To See It Go: No

Another "critics" record I bought at the end of the year in 1999 that I maybe listened to once, dropped it into the CD carousel and let it pop up on random shuffle for most of 2000.  This 13 track album called 13 is the 6th full length Blur album and I would say the second one I bought after their eponymously titled 5th album.

I'm going to say this one is quality start to finish.  My favorite cut is the single "Coffee and TV."  I had no recollection of hearing this song outside of the album and didn't realize there was a cute video with the exploits of a living milk carton, but 14 million people have viewed it on YouTube so there you go.  The other video on the record was for the epic "sad" song "No Distance Left To Run."  Well, it feels like an epic even though it is only 3:27.  The conceptual theme complete with sleep footage drags the video out a bit.

After a few listens, I found many great tracks on here.  The opener "Tender" seems out of the Spiritualized textbook with 7:40 length, Gospel singers and the like.  "Bugman" seems like a song my friends Roger That! nicked.  I'll have to ask their singer since he is British and loves Brit Pop.   The rest goes by pleasantly but after the third listen I realized I had enough whether I knew the songs or not.

B+/A- is really sometimes a coin toss.
