Back when every unreleased utterance of John Lennon was treated like manna from the Gods, I snapped up this seven inch redo of the Yoko Ono Double Fantasy track back with  single-digit Sean doing the title track from his Mom's 1982 album.

Both of these tracks appear on the 1984 tribute compilation which featured Nilsson, Elvis Costello, Rosanne Cash, Roberta Flack and more.  Somehow, I never got a copy, and it looks like an interesting release to hear.

I'm not sure if the Lennon version was a scratch track for Yoko's version.  It sounds the same to me save John's vocals.  I still prefer the song by Yoko in it's original context in the same way I prefer Double Fantasy tracks as is on Double Fantasy.  The songs were better suited for the concept piece and The John Lennon Collection which purged Yoko's contribution and contained all of John's proves it.

If Sean's version of Yoko's  'It's Alright" (not the Bill Ward Sabbath number), is supposed to be uplifting, well, well, well...

I found it depressing on a number of levels that I don't feel the need to spell out.
