Although it was another US Frankenstein culled from butchered albums and recent singles sides, Beatles VI was the 6th Capitol album released in the US (including Meet The Beatles!, The Beatles Second Album, Something New, Beatles '65 and Help! but excluding Introducing The Beatles on Vee Jay, A Hard Days Night Soundtrack on United Artists and The Beatles Story the spoken word album on Capitol).

Musically, it stands with the entire flawless Beatles catalog.  6 tracks are from Beatles For Sale including my favorite, "I Don't Want To Spoil The Party," the US #1 "Eight Days A Week, the "Kansas City" cover of Lieber/Stoller paired with "Hey Hey Hey Hey" gets the opening slot instead of being at the end of side one.  Buddy Holly's "Words of Love," "What You're Doing" and "Every Little Thing" round out the half year wait for those tracks after the late '64 release of Beatles '65.

Since Help! was split with instrumental soundtrack numbers instead of the 14 track all-Beatles UK version, we get "You Like Me Too Much," the Larry Williams cover "Dizzy Miss Lizzy" and "Tell Me What You See."  "Yes It Is" came from the B-side of "Ticket To Ride."  Another Larry Williams track, "Bad Boy," opened a 4-song 1966 UK EP of that name.  "Bad Boy" also showed up on the UK 1966 compilation A Collection of Beatles Oldies that never made it to the US market.  Capitol were too busy catching up in 1965 to look back.

Unless of course you are discussing The Early Beatles.
