The two volume Past Masters set which compiled everything not on the original UK LP Beatles releases was revamped for the 2009 box set and issued individually. This was of course for the Stereo Box edition since some of the tracks on the second volume were never issued in Mono.
In the US, some of these were album tracks psychologically. "I Want To Hold Your Hand" was the kick off of Meet The Beatles! here, as well as the song that broke them in the States as opposed to the orphan detritus that it would appear to be here. Of course, the Beatles singles are part of the greatest songbook of all time no matter how you shuffle them. In terms of sheer listenability, Past Masters falls short of many of the US albums these songs showed up on. This means that although I eagerly bought the original 1988 volumes upon release, they were rarely played start to finish.
Still, the tracks themselves are perfect, no matter how you shuffle them.
