Since I have hard plans to see 86 year old Ringo Starr Thursday night, there is no time like the present to write about the 2 Ringo albums I have to write about, both from the 19-piece French order from a few weeks back.

Ringo the album was on many "5-star" album all-time lists for mostly sentimental purposes.  It is the only solo record to feature contributions from all of the Beatles.  They did it for Ringo and he had two number one hits: "Photograph" and You're Sixteen."  John Lennon wrote the opening track "I'm The Greatest" with Ringo in mind.   George also played on that one.  "Six O'Clock" had Paul McCartney on it and apparently a longer version appears on the tape. "Oh My My" was the third single and the rest were better than most of the deeper Ringo album cuts.  The B-side to "You're Sixteen," "Devil Woman" has great drumming for example.  Ringo in the 70's was much like Ringo of the 60's: a man of great single tracks and B-sides.  This is best represented on the compilation Blast From Your Past before he left the Apple orbit.

All Ringo wanted to do at 32 was boogaloo.
