Band On The Run is title that seems to come in enough 8-track lots that I now have 5 of them in various conditions to choose from to fill this order. All with an Apple logo which didn't get switched over to Capitol toward the end of the 70's. The track order isn't altered but "Bluebird" gets the fade out/in between tracks.
The Denny Laine track "No Words" is probably the most forgettable song here, but it still sounds good with it's orchestrated flourish that sounds out of ELO's playbook. Although I'm a little sick of the core tracks of the album, it gets pulled time and again to listen to. I always liked Ram a little more, and Venue and Mars, London Town and Back To The Egg all get attention from time to time, but Band On The Run is a peg better than all of those in terms of start to finish track quality. "What's the use of worrying?" I never know if Mrs. Vanderbilt was the addressor or addressee in that one. Although I know the song well, I never thought to ascribe the title of the song to it even as it stuck out in track listings all these years.
"Drink to me, drink to my health, you know I can't drink anymore..."
