Although I ignored it almost as if I never bought it save for maybe a cursory listen, Forty Licks is an undeniably well compiled way to sneak in a EP worth of new songs.  The selling point at the time was the remastering which kicked off a tour and a mid aughts remastering campaign.  The 4 new songs were a bit of an afterthought to the point they were replaced in the streaming era on the official YouTube page.

While this ain't gonna replace Hot Rocks, the second disc of the Rolling Stones Records era does a nice job of overviewing roughly thirty years of now mid-period years and the hits they produced which were solid singles on albums of varying quality and edurance.  Undercover the album was a highly acclaimed album that got demoted over time, and "Undercover Of The Night" sounds great here with the always underrated "Emotional Recure" coming right after it.

At the time "Don't Stop" was the single and they avoided placing it right after the all-arena "Start Me Up."  They chose instead to put the core #1's "Brown Sugar" and "Miss You" plus "Beast of Burden" after it.  This didn't get the vinyl treatment until 2023, but "Don't Stop" closes out side 5 there.

The other new ones were even less memorable.  The closing Keef track "Losing My Touch" perhaps is the best of the lot. "Keys To Your Love" and "Stealing My Heart" seem lesser lights among the 90's hits like "Anybody Seen My Baby" or "Mixed Emotions."

"You Got Me Rocking" anyone?
