Nothing says holiday writeup like a compilation of hits I didn’t have time to listen to last month. Nothing says 4th of July like British Rocks ultimate salute to American music.
Made In The Shade covers all the hits from 1970-1974 released on the Stones own label. The terrain Sticky Fingers, Exile on Main Street, Goat Heads Soup and It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll. Ten tracks, nothing the slightest bit obscure from the Stones at the peak of their 70’s powers. Unless you think “Rip This Joint” is a “deep cut.” It kicked off Exile, it closes this set.
Sure there are personal favorites left out. I probably never spun this since the day I bought it brand new, unlike Hot Rocks, which remains the gold standard of Stones comps. This makes a nice companion despite overlapping Sticky Fingers tracks.
You can never hear “Brown Sugar” enough on Independence Day.
