Although I never actually had my own copy as a kid, I remember this compilation as a regular go-to some kid would bring in when recess got rained out. Every song is instantly familiar to me except for the Kenny Nolan song that I had to strain to barely remember. Otherwise the upbeat disco songs of Andy Gibb's "I Just Want To Be Your Everything" and KC and the Sunshine Band's "Keep It Comin' Love" win out over boring ballads like David Soul's "Don't Give Up On Us" or even friggin "Beth" by Kiss. No kid wanted to hear that at recess. I certainly didn't.
My favorites then were probably Wild Cherry's "Play That Funky Music" and "Car Wash" by Rose Royce. Those are career songs from those acts. "Hot Line" by The Sylvers was the other one I liked, but they also did "Boogie Fever" so they were a 2-hit wonder.
For the rest of this, the Foreigner track "Feels Like The First Time," although classic, ain't "Cold As Ice" and does anyone really want Elton John's "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" back to back with Alice Cooper's "You and Me?" You can't deny Marvin Gaye's "Got To Give It Up (Part One)" but you can deny "Lucille" by Kenny Rogers. Otherwise you get a bunch of soft rock and the Rocky theme.
Gonna fly now!
