Reviewing Let's Get It On is a little weird to me.  What's Going On gets all the cred, but this is the other twin tower of his career.  That said, I may prefer this to Going On for a current listen.

Getting it on is an intro AND an outro to side one.  "Keep Gettin' It On" is a great conceptual reprise.  By the time "You Sure Love To Ball" comes on side two, the listener gets treated to Madeline Ross.  Her vocal stylings have apparently never been recorded again, at least using the link on Discogs.  It’s a vocal performance that lives up to the title.

During the headphone listen, it's the little musical details that come out in the instrumentation and particuarly the layered vocals and the endings.  The outro of the title track is a prime example as is the outro of the closing track "Just To Keep You Satisfied."  Almost as disturbing as real life..

Oh well! All we can do is both try to be happy.
