Getting a quality 8-track copy of Houses of the Holy has been a bit of a challenge. I've had older copies with a pink shell that didn't sound so hot, but this Columbia House version I got in a lot recently with a sticker of the front cover and a grey shell sounded great.
There are a couple weird things. It sounds like "Over The Hills And Far Away" has an abrupt (non-defect) edit around the 3:50. I A/B'd it with the digital one just to make sure, and lo and behold my ears were correct, they added another bar probably to fill up the track. The 4th track has 1:11 of silence at the end.
"D'yer Mak'er" made conversation recently because of how it is supposed to be pronounced. The official line is it is to rhyme with Jamacia as one would expect with its reggae rhythm. It is also a play on the phrase "did you make her?"
Don't ever again pronounce it DIRE MAKER.
