The 9th release from Mick Box and crew, Return To Fantasy, has Uriah Heap in the mid-70's doing their brand of prog rock. This is a band that regularly comes with 8-track lots and this one that sold was my second recently acquired copy.
The members joining guitarist Box are vocalist Don Byron, drummer Lee Kerkslake, John Wetton on bass and Ken Hensley on keyboards, synths and guitar. King Crimson alum Mel Collins played sax on "Prima Donna" and B.J. Cole is on pedal steel with "Why DId You Go?"
The standout cuts for me are "Showdown," "Shady Lady," "Devil's Daughter" and of course the title track. "Beautiful Dream" sounds like proto-King Diamond. Of course, my favorite track "Showdown" gets the between track fade out/in. I always think Uriah Heap albums should be better then they are. When I saw the band in 2018, there weren't any tracks played from this album, so it can safely be said Return To Fantasy doesn't have the same clout as Demons and Wizards or even Abominog. Stylistically, this is somewhere in the middle.
Probably not the place to start.
