Generally flawless 5 track album from peak-period Crimson, Red is perhaps the best of the band or at least very close to In The Court Of The Crimson King.  The album was only issued in the US on Atlantic for a few years before EG took it over in 1977 for a half speed master version and into the CD era.  This was a decent copy that went close to it's median price-$26 and change.

"Red" and it's tangential refrain plus "One More Red Nightmare, " with it's almost Disco handclaps, open and close the first side.  "Starless" is the big John Wetton-sung finale reprising the title from the previous years album Starless and Bible Black.  The side 2 opener "Providence" start in such an inaudible fashion you begin to understand how CD's were made for music like this.

"...and the smile signals emptiness..."
