So here is the Tulips "statement" debut full length Jack Mag.  The whole band was overhauled and the mighty Jimmy Fountain is here on guitar, plus Chris Keene on Drums and Trevor Pratt on Bass.  You had hits from the single redone. You had Tim Shea from Green Magnet School guesting on Zinc to join up with Suzette & Hibarger's grunge vision circa 1993, year of release although it seems like this record was developing for a couple years.  The eviscerating "Do Me" is probably the standout track more for lyrics than the Helmet-rock.  There is a nice little noise roar going on throughout Jack Mag that is impressive.

Local engineer Tim O'Heir recorded this at Fort Apache and Mike Hibarger released it into the world via his label Sonic Bubblegum.  I don't think they toured much on it, maybe a couple regional runs.  The album held up pretty well.  "Zinc" has a cute little Zeppelin nod but mostly this is standard issue punishment rock well done with mild Goth vocal flourishes from a decidedly non-Goth vocalist.  

Sometimes that is all that is required.
