Kicking off with the lone megahit "Rikki Don't Lose That Number," Steely Dan's 3rd album is part of the bands glory years.  Any major dude will tell you!  "Barrytown" is downright Beatlesque with the verse mirroring "Tell Me What You See."  They do it again on the title track "Pretzel Logic" quoting the "oh yeah" of "She Came In Through The Bathroom Window."  Even "With A Gun" sounds a little like "I've Just Seen A Face," but maybe that's just my imagination running away with me.

The dude relates more to Jazz outright covering "East Saint Louis Toodle-Oo" from Duke Ellington and following that with "Parker's Band."  The lyric might have lifted it straight from a Charlie Parker album cover: "Savoy sides presents a new saxophone sensation!"  Maybe the dude relates to the other dude named "Charlie Freak" that turns up later on the album.  That guy was going down slow.

Makes one want to throw a bit of Borkum Riff in a pipe and ponder.
