Despite having 4 bonafide AOR hits, at least in New England ("Bohisattvia," "My Old School," "The Boston Rag" and "Show Biz Kids"), Countdown To Ecstacy still somehow hasn't gone Platinum like the rest of the Steely Dan catalog did in one fell swoop in 1993. In fact, it took 5 years to even go Gold in 1978! Shocking, but it seems to be true, especially considering it may be their best album or at least up there.
This remaster came out in 1998 with the rest of the catalog overhaul. I got a headphone listen in after a couple at low volume to hear the glorious layered guitar soloing and whatever keyboard Fagan decided to throw in there. Nice and clean with no bonus tracks. There were none needed, the album is great the way it is and doesn't need to be bogged down with bullshit. Sing it Pearl!
