Heavy promo'd straight to the cutout bin indie label that went down for the count soonafter put out this fine compilation from Crush.  They were rechristianed Crush, Sr. for the mass market so as not to be confused by the band that changed their name from Pleasurehead that EastWest were putting out to also go straight into the CD bargain bin.  An even funnier joke was that that band was comprised of British veterans from Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Cure and Killing Joke.  Yet, Crush had to audacity to imply they were there first.  Maybe Peter Prescott was.  I'm not going to everybody's Goddamn timeline for this.

What is clear is that Crush the Boston band existed from 1988 to 1990 for three singles.  This compilation did NOT exhaust their output.  The demo tape was floating around Boston long before this came out, making me excited to find this if only for "Crush Theme."  The preacher tells the audience "if it ain't loud and ain't no good" as a singular component of Rock.  Crush see the people in tie dyes mucking everything up.  What can you do?   "I think we better Crush!"

It is damn near impossible to duplicate that level of quality, but we get some solid attempts.  The next best thing is probably the bands final A-side which made the cut here, "Welcome To Fistville."  Unlike tracks that didn't make the cut from the two prior singles, that was both memorable and great as opposed to unmemorable and very good.  "Squeaky" was the other high level previously released track.

Weston, Fay, Weilek and Ward all went on or went back to bigger and better things to Crush.
