Solid 2003 retail comp that I originally thought was a straight up industry promo.  The quality tracks most are the bands I had a history of buying: Rocket From The Crypt, Hot Snakes, Testors/Sonny Vincent.  It wasn't any big surprise that these artists produced the best songs on Swami Sound System Vol. 1.    The big surprise for me was Loincloth, an instrumental band from Raleigh.  They ended up doing a couple releases on Southern Lord but I somehow never heard them before.  It was one of those tracks that stood out on random shuffle and made my ears perk up on a regular basis over the last couple weeks.

The rest of the CD is mostly garage punk with snotty vocals as you'd expect.  Swami has a certain bar of quality that is better than most as you would expect from an artist run label.  In this case that artist happens to be John Reis from Rocket/Hot Snakes.

He won't steer you wrong.
