For whatever reason 3 out of 4 EC8OR CD's on my shelf in storage have sold in the past few weeks. This particular one is Grand Royal's compilation of material previously released in Germany and imported. I already had everything on this and I didn't pay much attention to that fact when I bought it used. I just thought it was a new album until I actually listened to it.
Now that I've familiarized myself with the material from the debut and the Spex Is A Fat Bitch EP, I can safely say the Beastie Boys got it right cutting it down to under an hour, taking out some of the filler on the debut and turning it into a whole new album. Personally, I'd chop it down further to get an A record around 40 minutes, but there is no accounting for taste. Other than the sequencing there isn't anything different with the tracks give or take a second or two in the mastering edit. I put it together as a Spotify playlist linked above since it wasn't up anywhere.
It's kind of cool you can do that.
