One of those odds and sods type of releases, The Masterplan compiles B-sides issued throughout the 90's heyday on various UK releases.  The album leads off with a new song "Acquiescence" which roars in the bands typical sound.

I flat out forgot I even had this CD and, in all honesty, didn't know what it was in terms of the bands output until today.  At the time I got "the first one," "the big one," "the latest one" and "a couple others."  This was lumped in that last category.    I really had ignored Oasis as much as one could in the 90's and bought their CD catalog in one fell swoop on CD sometime in the early aughts.  Everything in their catalog at one point could be had online for seventy-five cents on half.com before they merged with ebay.   This one sat on sale for about 15 years before finally selling for a little under $4.  That's why they call Britpop "Britpop Revival" nowadays.  For a long while, nobody cared.  I guess active touring has something to do with recent CD sales.  I sold a few titles of the band over the last year that were sitting in storage since 2010.

Anyway, as an album this is fairly good.  They break out a live Beatles cover of "I Am The Walrus" that goes back to Definitely Maybe's 4th single "Cigarettes and Alcohol." "Going Nowhere" is pleasant horn laden single from the Be Here Now era on the second single "Stand By Me."  You get the idea, the eras are all over the map here. but limited to its 1998 release they only had roughly half a decade of releases.

They were that established that fast.
