"You'll be happy as a monkey in a monkey tree..."--"Sail Away"
Randy Newman always had a tongue in cheek acerbic world view. "Sail Away" envisions a slave traders pitch to come to America the Beautiful to kick off the record. The other side blows up the world on the opening track, "Political Science." "There goes London, there goes Par-ee..."
I don't know how I never knew this album as well as some others, but there is no time like the present to listen to this a few times and let it sink in. The going get tough. The tough get going. God smiles and gives us all his love. "Baby, take off your dress! Yes! Yes! Yes!"
Randy means every last bit of it!
