End-of-peak period Ministry. Filth Pig wasn't monumental like The Land of Rape And Honey/The Mind Is A Terrible Thing To Taste, and it didn't sell like Psalm 69 but it still rocked hard and peaked at #19 on Billboard bettering Psalm out of the gate although that one was a Platinum tour driven slow burn as were the two 80's Gold records.
The two memorable tracks for me back when it was released were the Bob Dylan cover, "Lay Lady Lay" which totally rearranges song into a layered slow burn that Ministry had perfected. The other song I remembered well was the title track, although I forgot just HOW liberally it plundered the Melvins "Night Goat." "Brick Windows" is the other one I always like when I hear it, but until this very moment never realized what it was called. The opener "Reload" had a video I just saw for the first time. That one is pretty great, Jorgensen capping off a bizarre interpretation of Dallas '63 as Jackie O, complete with bra flash. A punctuating "Reload!" with washing machine Wax Trax rhythm.
As for the rest, after several weeks of tracks popping up on random after a start to finish play and hearing it again now, the tracks that didn't stick with me then don't stick with me now. What I liked most about Filth Pig was it slowed things down a little bit and I feel that was enough to make the album stand out toward the end of their peak commercial period.
Some people will say it's alright.
