Glasspack were a Louisville stoner rock band. I'm not sure if I booked them or they did a Tee Pee showcase, but we were drinking at the bar and somebody in the band gave me this record sometime in the mid to late 2000's. I always think of them in my head as "Glasspack" not "The Glasspack." I hadn't heard this probably in 20 years give or take, so it was good to refresh my memory. It seems like they haven't been active since 2014 release wise, but maybe they will show up and play sometime.
Looks like the value has shot up since my price came down over the years. Somehow I only had it up for $12 bucks when the median was more like $25 and the high end was $35. That's sometimes the way it goes when stuff still sitting in my storage space has been up for 10 plus years and gets autoreduced during slow weeks. Lead man Dave Johnson apparently went on to be a lawyer and have other bands after called Blacklisted and Decline Effect.
Listening to this now, the Kyuss thing is in full effect but for some reason my favorite cuts are the instrumentals particularly the side two opener "Powerbait." The record was a little muddy but who cares. This kind of rock is supposed to be that way. With titles like "Jim Beam and Good Green" and "Hall Of The Mountain Speedlab" you know what you are gonna get.
Might as well enjoy it.
