Somehow in recent years I've managed to accumulate 4 copies of Moving Pictures--3 on CD and on cassette.  The one that sold was an early 80's Columbia House copy, but I have a BMG one and a remastered one as well as an 80's cassette.  My vinyl copy sold long ago.  Given that Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson have decided to take Rush back out on the road, once could only guess that whatever Rush pieces I have laying around will start moving much the way Oasis did in the last year after years of dormancy.

So what of Moving Pictures?  It's one of those "so classic it's unassailable" Rush album, maybe even their absolute best.  A twin tower with Permanent Waves.  These are the albums that made "Rush" RUSH, the AOR monolith.  People can say 2112 or their 70's output has a favorite of theirs that outstrip these two for their personal satisfaction, but I have to say I am not one of them.

I'm reminded that I had a 7" of "New World Man" that had a live version of the closing track "Vital Signs" that skipped during the "a" of the lyric line "a symptom of life."  Like Pavlov, that skip goes through my mind whenever I hear the song, which, in all honesty, isn't that much.  

I'm more a "YYZ" guy.
