Where and When Bought: Blacklist Mailorder late 80's
Gwiz-gau Letter Grade: A
Sad To See It Go: No
Classic early single that came initially to advance the Blue Train Station album in 1987 with an unreleased B-side. I liked the song so much from that album without knowing this was an advance single until I saw in Blacklist Mailorder in 1989 when I was stuck in Worcester for a summer. There was a little confusion when I saw the date listed as 1993, but I think that was the year the record was reissued with a color cover and purple vinyl.
I did get to see The Cynics in 1990 at a short lived club on Mass Ave Cambridge. It was in a converted lesbian bar called Ground Zero and it did bands about a year. I feel like I saw them again at South By Southwest in Austin in the late 2000's. Blue Train Station was my favorite "modern garage revival" record among a slew of garage revival bands. I appreciated that it sounded a little bit tougher and dirtier than much of the rest of the pack.
Certainly one of PIttsburgh's finest bands.
