These Warner Brothers radio promos from the 80's were part of The Warner Brothers Music Show series that would take albums and intersperse them with artist commentary with an announcer giving an intro and break on each side. The vinyl was pressed Side One/Side Three and Side Two/Side Four so they could be cued up back to back on the air.
As for this interview album, right off the bat you get the famous story of how the album was inspired by a 1981 cassette Gum Boots No. 2 Accordion Jive Hits from South Africa. Since it was instrumental music that sounded to Paul like a backing track, he began to create vocal ideas out of the music. He then decided that wasn't enough and he needed to go to South Africa to seek these musicians out. The rest of his boycott busting, Grammy winning story is history.
As for Graceland the album, that is A level territory. I bought the album, saw the tour and always though highly of Paul's comeback. I always found these Warner transcription productions a little stale, even if they were collector cool. This particular one sat around untouched for decades, finally selling for under 8 bucks. Paul didn't have the "collector cache" like other 60's rock Gods.
