"Well...some of us here still remember Rock And Roll.........................."-Joey, on stage in your town 80's & 90's

What a classic Ramones meets Phil Spector production.  In fact, it was the final Phil Spector production except for Yoko Ono's Seasons of Glass.   End Of The Century is the one where he held the band at gunpoint to get the perfect chord out of Johnny for "Rock 'n' Roll High School."  This was despite the fact that the song was already out on the soundtrack of the same name with a perfectly good unlabored opening chord.

Rhino was giving the Ramones catalogue the one CD remaster treatment with bonus tracks and this one, their 5th album  came out in 2002 after the first 4 got the same restoration.  There has been a 3 CD/1 LP box set deluxe version that has been in the works since 2020 that keeps getting delayed.  The 40th anniversary is long passed but apparently there were new de-Spectorized mixes done by Rick Rubin.

As of now, this is still the latest official End Of The Century production until it isn't.  It is important to note that there are some aspects to this record besides the lingering chord at gunpoint that could only have happened with Phil in the room.  The reverb of "I'm Affected" comes to mind.  They probably wouldn't have covered  The Ronettes "Baby, I Love You" without him either. They probably would have still done Johnny Thunders & The Heartbreakers "Chinese Rock" though.  That was a live mainstay for the band after it was released.

The bonus tracks on this aren't particularly revelatory so I'm curious how this gets expanded to 3 discs after the promised remix.  "I Want You Around" was also on the Rock 'n Roll High School soundtrack.  Demos of "Danny Says," "All The Way" and a very stripped sounding "Do You Remember Rock 'n' Roll Radio" are here and one unreleased demo that isn't the greatest, "Please Don't Leave."  You also get a cool radio ad where Joey name checks Phil all the way.

Some of us here still remember Rock and Roll.
