Sad To See It Go: No

It dawned on me that I had no idea what ever happened to Vertigo.  I managed to never hear their mid-90's splinter band Silver Salute even though AmRep put multiple releases out in the 90's while I was still faithfully buying anything on the label..  How could this be?  Nail Hole was the third and final album for Vertigo on top of a bunch of singles, most of which I had.   I didn't know this one as well as the two prior so I've been trying to hear it a little more on random spotify playlists after I gave it one pass from a pile that went out the door.  I decided since songs were starting to sound familiar after a couple weeks that I would listen again start to finish to Nail Hole.  I did not need such an effort with Ventriloquist from the same order a couple weeks back, that one was pretty much burned in my memory banks.

The crushing track of this record is "Out Of Touch."  "Edward" is another good one.  Having these newly discovered hits on the record made me say it's time to do the writeup among 7 or 8 other pending writeups that need deep listening.  Vertigo was very consistent in their sound: basic guitar-bass-drums-lead guitar-laconic male vocals.  To call this "noise" rock is a bit far.  There is feedback, but it is controlled.  Noisy rock more than noise.

Just the way I like it.
