A couple excellent tunes from The Band's 1971 Cahoots album, their 4th.  I managed to ignore it completely over the years.  Don't ask me why, it's just how that carnival of life unfurled.

The A-side has made their Greatest Hits compilation as well as Rock of Ages and The Last Waltz, so I guess it has been respected as part of the Band's major works.  Hey buddy would you like to buy a watch real cheap.  Allen Toussaint does the horn arrangement on this track.  Rick Danko & Levon Helm share lead on this one.

The B-side was all Richard Manuel.  "The Moon Struck One" the Robbie Robertson written ode to neighbors Julie and little John Tyler.  Tyler gets stung by a snake as the moon strikes one.

He was lying in the dirt!
