Chicago's Naked Raygun were at the peak of their powers, coming off the previous years classic All Rise album in 1987.  This single was on a band released one-off label prior to the band moving from Homestead to the Virgin-distributed Caroline Records.  This carried some perks like an accompanying video that could be seen on 120 Minutes.  This A-side opened the next album Jettison.

Jettison was an excellent follow-up with a  tour I witnessed at the Anthrax in Norwalk, CT.  Around this time I also saw the band open for Sonic Youth on the Sister tour at the Living Room in Providence.  This show was notable on a personal level for taking a combat boot full force from a stage diver from above.   Back in the days where you'd just shake off a "football injury" when there was no blood just probably a mild concussion.  Numb nose and tinnitus for at least a day were par for the course.

Anyways, the B-side "Slim" is on the surface a joke track of uncleared film dialogue from the great character actor Slim Pickens.  You get the classic "Kansas City Faggot" line as well as others from Blazing Saddles and it wraps up with Taggert working for Naked Raygun instead of Mel Brooks.

Lost control again today.
