Garage punk Austin band from the mid-90's. I heard this one in the WFDU library and liked it enough to buy my own used copy. That says something, because I don't think I knew the band at all before I heard this.
When I was listening today, I didn't remember why I thought the Motards were a cut above for noisy garage. It definitely falls in the realm of New Bomb Turks or other bands that Gearhead zine would write about. 18 tracks in a half hour or so. Usually I like this stuff better on 7" singles in short doses but I felt this band was worthy to COMMIT to the full length. Overall I like the vocal stylings of Dave Head, who moved on to bands called Headache City, The White-Outs and The Secret Lovers.
Then I heard the standout song on the record. "Hangover." In about 90 second it lays out the result. He wants to die. Repeatedly.
Rough night!
