Lard was the Jello Biafra project with various Ministry characters, primarily Jorgenson on guitar. I stuck with them but was a little more excited when The Power of Lard came out. As for this one, the final EP, I was an enjoyable listen.
The title track A-side of the 12" sounds like a cross of AC/DC and Slade. Of course, one could make the argument that Jello himself is 70’s Rock even if they were outside AOR radio. Jello does the the best he can to belt the song out. Not a traditional Biafra trademark warble. The B-side opens with some Lords Prayer-ish action. Or whatever it's called, probably a parody into a environment protest industrial style. "Ballad of Marshall Ledbetter" features the late guitarist Michael Sciaccia who collapsed on stage in 2012 in Texas backing the singer of his band Rigor Mortis.
I never realized this was the final Lard release. Even more bizarre is that Lard's 1990-2000 existence was shorter than the time from this to Sciaccia's passing.
The title track is still going through my head a day later.
