Coming from the hardcore legends Crucifix, Matt Borruso led Loudspeaker, one of the great NYC downtown bands. This sophomore effort (minus singles of course) is produced by the legendary Martin Bisi.
Fairly classic in it's approach, I often thought of Kurt Wolf as the foremost member of Loudspeaker, but he was only one of a set of rotating characters for this band. 1994 is in full effect: Jesus Lizard, Laughing Hyenas, God Bullies, Helmet and the like although you can't call those bands "influences" dating back to 1980. More like peers of the era.
In it's era I bought every Loudspeaker release I could lay my hands on including the 3 full lengths and most of the singles. "Pray" was the one that stood above all for me. This one is enjoyable throughout but doesn't have any hits.
Unless you listen another 27 times, perhaps.
