Nick Bensen has evolved into a massive discography homespun psychedelic artist.  This one was his second album he either gave or mailed to me when I was doing Rubric.  Straight outta Avon, CT, Or was that San Francisco by way of Avon?  Anyway, Nick was a big fan of stuff I released via Rubric through Woronzow: Bevis Frond, The Alchemysts and the Lucky Bishops according to some bio somewhere.  Oddly enough, the one that came to mind was not on his list, The Green Pajamas, but I bet he liked them too.

I know I listened to this when he gave it to me, but I admit I didn't give it more than a spin or two. I've listened a few passes this time around in headphones and through speakers and I've found Nick to deliver a consistently enjoyable guitar sound.  The title track was my favorite, and although this album can't be streamed, there is a radio version that can be heard.   The other one I like quite a bit is "Don't Freak Out."

I'm always appreciative of people like this that stick to it and amass a catalogue. He might have self-described quality control issues, and sometimes there are so many hours in the day to devote to listening to it all.  Records like this were the whole purpose of doing the blog: to give things gathering dust in storage a dedicated focus as opposed to passively playing once, filing away and on to the next.    Why not devote some time to the work of Nick Bensen?

You don't have to freak out!
