Where and When Bought: early 90's new Newbury Comics, pretty sure there was never a fishnet but maybe I just cut it off and threw it out
Gwiz-gau Letter Grade: B-
Sad To See It Go: No
This record went for ten bucks and it would've gone for 20 had it had the complete artwork including an uncut fishnet wrapped around an oversize bag befitting of the "Catch of the Day" concept. I don't remember if mine had the net or not, clearly I didn't care enough to save it if it did. I'm starting to think that I did indeed cut it off and it shriveled up and was thrown out. I didn't fathom the concept of saving it because I might sell it later. It just seemed like garbage. The comic book bag was unwieldly enough to make me not want to bother taking this middling record to play on the radio more than once or twice. Packages like this were always a pain in the ass because they always poke out of your singles collection and get beat up hence the 'VG' grade.
As for the music, I bought it for the Unrest track, that wasn't particularly memorable. Neither was the Shudder To Think side, but I like it a bit more now. In fact, Shudder To Think undo the Unrest at their own game on this particular record. Unrest were great at short form etherial jangle pop singles with a dark sexual undercurrent like "Cherry Cherry" and "Yes, She Is My Skinhead Girl." Shudder To Think don't go that deep, but there is some ethereal pop to their Dischord "crunch". This song appeared in 1990 on their Dischord release Ten Spot.
Shudder To Think graduated to Epic for a couple albums later in the 90's, Unrest remained Mark E's flagship band until 1993 then only issued archive records. Unrest was the better band.
Neither made it out of the 90's so far is I know or care to.
