Sad To See It Go: No

There a fetishist record collector's term that is always annoying to see in print: "minty." Well, my three record return came back from the heat in Vegas the polar opposite: "melty."  At least 2 of the 3 looked like they had rested on an exhaust pipe, which was not the way they looked when I gave a headphone listen.

Although I thought Kenny Chambers was taking a "commercial" turn at the time with this compared to Burning In Water and Brave Noise, this is still a great single.  The A-side advanced the Fall album that came the next year and had a couple B-sides from my schools station WERS.  Since I started Emerson 7 months after that B-side was recorded, I remember the program, a local oriented Sunday night show called Metrowave.  But, alas, I was still in Worcester doing WICN overnights in High School and playing Burning In Water when this was recorded.

Oddly enough, the Metrowave "Falling" cannot be streamed, but the other one on this single can as well as that sessions "Always Calling" and  "The Other Side."  Great band, I got to catch up with Kenny's new version of the Targets at the end of 2021.

Now I can even have some use for the photo I got with Kenny Chambers at the show!
