Pipe got their 70's new wave jones out on this 1997 indie rock release.  You get hit right away with an interpolation of Devo's "Incontrollable Urge" with "Favorite Dirty Flavor."  You also get an outright 1978 cover of Elvis Costello's "No Action."  Even a track like "How The West Was Won" has a mélange of 70's punk guitar sound from Ramones to Stiff Little Fingers.

I wrote about Pipe a couple months back when this CD sold in tandem with the earlier one I wrote about.  4 years passed and there were a bunch of singles and a full length at the mid-point.  Pipe were fairly established by the time this came out.  Chuck Garrison had found his calling post-Superchunk and Merge finally took over from Jesus Christ Records.  Even Sonic Bubblegum took a shot  This was the final Pipe studio album.  Chuck Garrison moved on to Evil Weiner and Zen Frisbee.  Mike Kenlan appeared on Merge band Ashley Stove.  Singer Ron Liberti now plys his trade with Cold Cream.

Pipe was left to the 90's.
