The Sights were one of those Detroit area bands of the late 90's/early aughts era of amphetamine garage rock with freakbeat overtones.  Another band of this ilk were the High Strung, who were put out by Tee Pee when I was there.

I'll have to ask my friend Kevin Wyzzard, but I seem to remember him liking The Sights before I had got this record.  I got another one, Got What We Want, given to me around the same time and lo and behold they sold together.  This was the one I preferred.  If things get slow sales-wise I'll write about that one another day, although that one doesn't have the standouts this one has, which makes for a difficult follow-up write-up.

I had a mental note that I thought highly of this band 20 years or so ago, but could not remember exactly why.  The opening cut of this, "All Night Long Stay" made me have that Oh Yeah! moment, this song is off the charts great, to the level that it's impossible for the rest of the record to maintain that quality.  Sometimes it works that way.

The rest of the album is interspersed with memorable cuts.  "Finish Whatcha Started" and "Not One To Beg" are standout.  "Want Is You" made me think of The Who Sell Out.  "Hey Girl" has an early Beatles vocal feel amped up.  Interesting how this era seems dated to it's era in it's own way now that it is 20+ years old irrespective of what it is influenced by.

Gen Y's stamp, however meager, had some charms.
