"This single is dedicated to the lonely loser-the outcast -driven from normal society to find his place on the street.  The songs written by Australian bands (The Moods & The Lost Souls) in the 60's are proud anthems to outsiders everywhere.  Their power inspired us to try to restate their message.  We only hope we were able to express some of their hopeless confusion."-Cheater Slicks, back cover of this single

I got hooked on the Cheater Slicks seeing them live not knowing anything about them a little before the time this single came out. They were still a Boston band before they left for Columbus, Ohio.   The Slicks did a song that proved to be a cover, "Night of the Sadist."  The original I later heard on WMBR's Lost and Found 60's garage show, "Night of the Phantom" by Larry and the Blue Notes.

This single was a tribute to 2 Australian bands as the quote above says.  Good choices of course.  The Cheater Slicks do it right.  Not a mind blower like "Night of the Sadist" and the original Lost Souls blows them out of the water, but the Moods cover is a nice job.  Both appear on the Destination Lonely album with the Dan Clowes drawn cover.

I never realized both these tracks were on the album even though I bought that too.
