This promo 7” came out before the 8 Way Santa release with the unsuspecting models on the cover. For me this album represented a softening of Tad the band. In some respects it was their last great stand and this single was a classic. I already had the A-side from the CD EP with the banned Pepsi cover. Something about that era where Tad could offend individuals and corporations with their artwork.
"Jack Pepsi" was a classic drinking story adventure. Hot on the heels of the absolute peak of Salt Lick and God's Balls, it seemed like the weight of Tad would punish all in his path. The B-side that didn't make the EP was a good melodic pop song from 8 Way, but perhaps not what the person that would force himself to the Rat with the flu and a fever to see him in 1990 wanted to hear.
This single showed up as a bonus when I subscribed to the Sub Pop Singles Club in 1990. I managed to get the banned covers on CD of both the EP and full length months before they were forced out of stores with legal action.
Get 'em while you can.
