Sad To See It Go: original seller says yes
The seller that consigned this to me had high hopes this would be a $40 or $50 sale a few years back, but although it was the only copy up on Discogs in the US, it dropped over 3 years to $22.99 and that wasn't the cheapest copy overall by any means. The disturbing black-eyed child model sets the tone for the A-side, a missive of a world gone awry.
I had the A-side on the mid-90's singles comp Yes Darling But Is It Art? but never knew this B-side, which my friend heartily recommended. The big single for me was "I Know Where Syd Barrett Lives" (as well as the obligatory "Part Time Punks") and the "Now I Learned To Love The Bomb" that my 80's radio partner John brought and played dozens of times as my old cassettes are sure to prove.
So "A Sense of Belonging" is an excellent anti-war and anti-apathy number with some oblitering discordant piano. The B-side that the consigner was raving about is a reverb drenched organ number that showed up on 1984's The Painted Word LP as did the A-side.
A Sense of (Very) British Character Study.
