Sad To See It Go: No

US math rock collective from the late 90's featuring guitarist Jeff Mueller who also could be heard earlier in the 90's in Rodan before and also later with Shipping News (and perhaps simultaneously).  I bought all his bands religiously but really they were because of the Rodan album Rusty which I played relentlessly and home and on air in 1993.

June of 44 was an all-star collective of sorts featuring drummer Doug Scharin who played on the later Codeine album The White Birch.  Sean Meadows sang with June of 44 as well as playing bass for Lungfish in the later 90's.  Fred Erskine plays bass and trumpet on this and his most notable band from my memory is Hoover.  Since this is a "collective" these players played in bands from all over the place.

As studio projects go, there is a "sound" more than an "Identity."  Vocals tend to be faceless genre embodiments spoken.  It could be Albini or Sooyoung Park or some guy out of the bar.  I probably played it one upon release and a few times on WFDU before filing it away until this sale.  I've paid more focus on these couple listens than upon release, which would be true about any of the aforementioned bands except Rodan if I were to write about them.

Serviceable, maybe better for math rock lifers.
