Seems like Dr. Seuss in all shapes and forms has suddenly become collectable on hoarder levels.  Not just the culturally dated books the media advertised as going out of print.  Advertised scarcity sells, irrespective of the reason.  Now something like this Oysters record, with a Green Eggs and Ham themed cover,  suddenly became trendily desirable.  Makes you wonder if Dr. Seuss's publishing company knew they were going to blow out of some overstock at prices many times over when they fired off that press release smudged with crocodile tears last week.

The Oysters were one and done with this album. Straight forward "Boston Rock" mid-80's style.  The label that brought you Gang Green and all the Choke bands had a more "mainstream" side.  It sounds raw over time, and there were many many great bands that fit this era: Dogmatics, Classic Ruins, The Outlets, Last Stand and many many more.   Tangentially punk informed but also well versed in straight pre-corporate Budweiser induced in not logoed rock.  The bands that would headline the Rat  for 21+ drinkers after the all ages shows finished on weekends, then maybe open for someone national at the Channel from time to time.

This is a rare album where you can't stream it on Youtube or Spotify in it's entirety.  My favorite song is the opener "Reeperbahn" that made many a radio show of mine in the 80's.  There are a few songs up on youtube to give you a taste: Side two's opener, "Headhunter" has a bit of early Replacements style slop and I remember that one as well.  Side one, track two "On Special" and the next cut "Never Promised" rock the mid-tempo.  I did an open air listen start to finish last week, and was hoping to stream it to rehear the album, but that is not possible.  You'll just have to track down a physical copy to hear it, even the Willfully Obscure blog's post is now expired.

Worth getting a copy if you like straightforward rock 'n roll.
