Some records I was so sure they would increase in value.  This was bought off the wall in the early 80's, hard to find and with insert for $20 80's dollars which is around $50 today.  That it only sold for $22.99 after being up for 5+ years is one of the great sorrows of the Reverse Collector (TM).  I held on to this vinyl while others were purged after CD replacement in the 80's because when Ryko reissued it, the tapes were so degraded they couldn't get a decent original bass track, and the redo was noticeable.  I believe this was corrected from another source in a later reissue.

I consider Only Money to be the single greatest Zappa album.  More of a pastiche than a collection of songs.  A weirdo production and not one where the guitar is the focal point.  He didn't shut up here.  This was an anti-hippie record made for hippies.  Social satire slightly more “family friendly” than the “dirty” scatological humor of later years, which was post-cultural revolution and maybe a little less smart until the Barking Pumpkin years.

You get nods to freakbeat, doo wop, electronic music, avant classical and of course the Beatles.  "The Chrome Plated Megaphone of Destiny" gives a tongue-in-cheek nod at "A Day In The Life" and it's final piano chord.

Cop kill a creep!

Pow! Pow! Pow!
