Sad To See It Go:  Yes

Although I bought this on vinyl in the mid 80's and replaced it on CD immediately when it was reissued (as I did religiously with "important" records), this copy came from a collection I've had on consignment for 4 years.  I was hoping to give it a spin, but I had to get it out the door with 2 other records I had time to play for what clearly was a Xmas gift to someones parents in Wyoming.  Still I know this music very well although you can't seem to find it in one piece on youtube probably due to clearance rights in the streaming era.  You have to poke around added tracks on the reissue.  And PJ Soles version of "Rock 'n' Roll High School" gets no respect, being left off the current soundtrack link.

The crucial thing about this release is the 11 minute live Ramones medley that couldn't be found elsewhere.  There's also an pre-End Of The Century version of the title track, although Spector did this mix also as he did "I Wan't You Around." Ramones completists also need the Ritchie Valens cover with the Paley Brothers, "Come On Let's Go."

From there you get some school related cannon classics from Chuck Berry, Brownsville Station and Alice Cooper.  You also get "Teenage Depression" by Eddie and the Hot Rods and "Come Back Jonee" by Devo.  Eno and Rundgren and Lowe also rear their heads.

As far as soundtracks go, you really can't go wrong with the musical directors choices for Rock 'n' Roll High School in the time of Robert Stigwood double album monstrosities.  Compare to Times Square if you don't believe me.  Perhaps one of the greatest Soundtrack albums of all time.

Hey ho, let's go!
